Undead - A sourcebook for Chill 3rd Edition horror RPG

Created by Matthew McFarland

In our third sourcebook for Chill 3rd Ed, we explore the Undead, creatures that return from the grave for love, revenge, or hate.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

April Update: The Weather is Controlled by the Unknown
about 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 17, 2018 at 09:40:33 PM

Seriously, it was in the 70s last week, now it's freaking snowing again. I blame vampires.

Anyway! Here's your April Undead update!

Progress

Text is done and edited and in to Thomas, who is working on layout. We're still waiting on finished comic pages from Len, but I've seen the inks and they're pretty damn fantastic. Behold!

 Cases

I have final drafts in from Chris and Steve. They'll go to Michelle for editing and then to Thomas for layout, but since Thomas is hard at work on the book itself I'm having him prioritize that. That's going to delay the cases, but I'd much rather get the book in to the printers and then worry about the cases, so my guess is that we'll see the first one in May. I'd like to have one up a month May-August, but it'll depend on how things progress, when I get a draft from Sarah, and when I have time to write the case I'm doing.

Surveys and Other Business

BackerKit says that 92% of the folks have completed their survey, which is great! If you haven't done yours, please do. Note that I won't be charging for shipping or add-ons until July 1st. Note, too, that if you want to pick up at GenCon, please PM me and tell me, but then fill out your BackerKit as normal (I'm not 100% sure I'll have Undead at GenCon).

The Future!

Growling Door has some exciting stuff coming up - we'll have a new Chill book Kickstarting in fall, we'll have a partnership with Jonathan Lavallee for a new game, and I'm looking at running a little quickie Kickstarter for a spooky microgame in May or June. You can keep up with our shenanigans by signing up for our mailing list!

Reminder: Surveys Must be Completed by Friday (No Foolin')
about 6 years ago – Sun, Apr 01, 2018 at 10:10:48 PM

It's April Fool's Day. WATCH OUT THERE'S A ZOMBIE BEHIND YOU ok I'm done with that.

Anyway, reminder that you have until this coming Friday, April 6th, to fill out the BackerKit survey for purposes of your in-book credit for Undead. If you haven't filled it out by Friday, I'm just going to use your Kickstarter name in the credits page.

We will not charge you for shipping or any add-ons you choose to buy until July 1st, however.

I'll do a more substantial update later in the month, but I want to throw that reminder out today. As always, thank you for your support!

March Update - SURVEYS INCOMING; PLEASE READ
about 6 years ago – Mon, Mar 12, 2018 at 05:50:23 PM

I know folks skip these updates - lord knows I don't read them all from the Kickstarters I back - but this one's important so please read it. I'll put the important stuff up front.

Survey Emails Are Coming - Deadline 4/6/18

As soon as I finish writing this update, I'm gonna send out the surveys from BackerKit. Please fill them out ASAP; they'll ask you how you want to be credited in Undead and which email address we should use to deliver your digital rewards. That's the important bit; I need that done by April 6th, 2018.

The survey is also going to ask you for a credit card if you're getting physical rewards shipped, and it gives you the opportunity to get add-ons (other Chill or Growling Door products). You will not be charged until July 1st, 2018. I will send out a 24-hour warning before I charge cards.

Progress

Otherwise, things are progressing pretty smoothly. Michelle is finishing edits on the text this week and then we'll pass everything along to Thomas for layout. Most of the art is in (still waiting on a couple of monster pieces from Gennifer and the finished comic art from Len), but that's about normal.

Cases

I have Steve and Chris' first drafts for their free cases. I had hoped to have redlines done, but between the day job and gearing up for Breakout (see below), it's kinda slid to the back burner. It's still my plan to have one case up on the site this month or early next month, though!

Breakout Con

Michelle and I will be at Breakout Con in Toronto, ON this weekend. I'm running Chill and a demo/playtest of my new game, Timepeekers, and Michelle is running A Tragedy in Five Acts and a demo of her new game, Daedalus. If you're around, come say hi!

That's it for March, short 'n sweet. As always, thank you for your support!

BackerKit/Shipping Update Addition: I KNEW I was forgetting something
about 6 years ago – Mon, Mar 12, 2018 at 05:04:19 PM

So, what, you might ask, if a) I already paid to have Chill or other books shipped, or b) if I want to pick up at GenCon as in previous years, or c) if I live right down the street from Matt in Cleveland I'll just swing by the cemetery by his house and wait menacingly until he brings me a copy of Undead?

Well, it's like this:

a) If you already paid to have existing materials shipped (like you pledged for Treasure Trove or Zombie Hunter levels), then I'll put a credit on your BackerKit so you'll just pay what you owe for shipping Undead. I don't know when I'll get around to doing it, but it'll be before you get charged, I promise.

b) If you would like to pick up at GenCon, go ahead and fill out the BackerKit as you normally would if your weren't picking up at GenCon for now. If GenCon pickup is a thing that is possible, I will do an update about it and credit your account before you're charged.

c) If you live near me, I'm totally game to hand off your stuff. I live outside Cleveland, OH. PM me. We can meet at a game store or a coffee shop or the cemetery by my house (I mean, that's weird, but I don't judge).

Any questions, PM me or comment!
